A Barracks is a special room that houses an entire garrison of soldiers, ranging from standard foot soldiers to sergeants, lieutenants, and captains. The room is usually filled with weapons, armor, and sometimes chests.

Barracks have a 1 in 6 chance of generating on eligible levels starting from dungeon level 13, provided that soldiers have not been genocided or made extinct.
The room is populated with a variety of military personnel generated asleep. Unlike many other special rooms, barracks contain a vast assortment of military gear scattered on the floor, including swords, shields, armor, polearms, and food rations. They also feature a chest container representing the garrison's payroll and loot.
