A Deserted shop is a GnollHack-specific special room designed to trick unsuspecting adventurers. To the casual observer, it appears to be a normal shop, complete with parquet-style or marble floors and several items. However, the shop is completely deserted and has no shopkeeper.
Instead, the shop houses mimics disguised as merchandise, including:
- One Gargantuan Mimic: A deadly Gargantuan Mimic that is guaranteed to drop a wand of identify when defeated.
- One Giant Mimic: A powerful giant mimic that is guaranteed to drop a wand of town portal when defeated.
- Standard Mimics: Other items in the shop have a 1 in 4 chance of being regular mimics waiting to ambush you.
🗺️ Generation
The Deserted shop is a one-of-a-kind special room, meaning it can generate only once per game. It has a chance to generate randomly in place of a normal shop in the Dungeons of Doom on levels eligible for shops (between level 2 and Medusa's level). It mimics the structure of a real shop (a room with exactly one door and no stairs) and always generates unlit.
