π A Swamp is a damp special room characterized by multiple pools of water and amphibious monsters.
βΉοΈ Description
A Swamp is a water-logged special room. The floor of the room is converted entirely to swampy grass, and a checkerboard pattern of water pools covers half of the squares. It is inhabited by aquatic pool monsters and moldy land fungi, and is a rich source of wild berries and mushrooms.
πΊοΈ Generation
Swamps have a 1 in 6 chance of generating on Dungeons of Doom levels starting from level 14. When generated on a level, the game will attempt to convert up to 5 ordinary rooms into swamps.
πΎ Monsters
- Pool Squares: The water pools are populated with aquatic monsters, primarily giant eels (80%), piranhas (10%), or electric eels (10%).
- Land Squares: The dry grass squares have a 25% chance of spawning sleeping fungi or mold monsters (like a violet fungus or brown mold). Standard terrestrial monsters (like snakes or crocodiles) do not generate as part of the room itself.
π Vegetation and Foraging
The swampy grass tiles are fertile ground for various edible and dangerous plants. Each dry square has separate chances to contain:
- Mushrooms (14% chance): Chanterelle, penny bun, champignon, or fly agaric.
- Dragon Fruit (12.5% chance): A valuable dragon fruit.
- Cloudberry (10% chance): A cloudberry.
- Poisonous Fungi (10% chance): Death cap or panther cap.
- Phantomberry (2% chance): A rare and magical phantomberry.
