ℹ️ Description
A Vault is a specialized 2x2 room hidden within the walls of the dungeon. It contains no doors and is completely disconnected from the standard corridors. Inside, every single square is covered with a large pile of gold.
🗺️ Generation
Vaults are generated independently from other special rooms and can appear on almost any level in the Dungeons of Doom. Because they have no doors or connecting corridors, you must find other ways to enter them.
🚪 Entering and the Vault Guard
Entering a Vault requires special means, such as:
- Teleportation: Using a teleportation wand, scroll, or spell to land inside.
- Digging: Using a pick-axe, dwarvish mattock, wand of digging, or spell of digging to break through the solid walls.
- Phase Door: Using a phase door spell or scroll.
Once you enter a Vault, a vault guard is immediately summoned. The guard will wait at the entrance of a newly created corridor and demand that you drop your gold or pay them, attempting to escort you out. You can choose to pay, try to escape using teleportation, or fight the guard.
