👉 The Elemental Planes form the perilous endgame sequence of GnollHack, a final gauntlet leading to ascension.
Location: Accessed via the staircase up on dungeon level 1 after obtaining the Amulet of Yendor. Consists of 5 levels.
After securing the Amulet of Yendor from Moloch's Sanctum and performing the invocation, players must ascend back up through the dungeon to level 1 and take the staircase up.
🪜 The Sequence
The player must traverse five distinct planes in strict order:
- Plane of Earth: Solid rock. You must dig your way out while fighting earth elementals.
- Plane of Air: An open expanse of clouds with no solid ground. You must levitate or fly to survive while battling air elementals and dangerous flying monsters.
- Plane of Fire: A landscape dominated by lava. Fire resistance and levitation are mandatory. Fire elementals and powerful demons swarm you.
- Plane of Water: You are submerged in an ocean.
- The Astral Plane: The final challenge.
🌌 The Astral Plane
To win the game, you must find the high altar belonging to your god and offer the Amulet of Yendor.
- There are three altars (Lawful, Neutral, Chaotic), but only one belongs to your god.
- You must identify your altar while fighting through the angelic hosts of the Riders (Death, Famine, and Pestilence).
