👉 Mines' End is the final, bottom-most level of the Gnomish Mines, housing significant treasure and the /Artifacts/Gladstone.
Location: Located at the very bottom of /Dungeon/The Gnomish Mines (level 8 to 10 of the branch, absolute depth 10 to 15).
Once you reach it, there are no stairs leading further down.
Characteristics
- Layout: Mines' End comes in several different variants (e.g., the Wine Cellar, the Mimic level, the Vampire level, or the Catacombs).
- Inhabitants: The level is heavily guarded by powerful monsters relative to the early game, including mind flayers, vampires, or large numbers of mimics depending on the variant.
- Traps: Often heavily trapped, particularly with polymorph traps.
The Reward
The primary reason to venture to the bottom of the mines is the /Artifacts/Gladstone, a unique artifact luckstone. Having a non-cursed Luckstone in your inventory is crucial because it prevents your luck from timing out (returning to 0) over time, and grants a flat bonus to your luck score. High luck improves combat rolls, saving throws, and item generation.
Depending on generation, Mines' End may also contain a guaranteed alignment-specific artifact.
