A Barracks is a special room that houses an entire garrison of soldiers, ranging from standard foot soldiers to sergeants, lieutenants, and captains. The room is usually filled with weapons, armor, and sometimes chests.
🗺️ Generation
Barracks have a 1 in 4 chance of generating on eligible levels starting from dungeon level 15. The room is populated with a variety of military personnel. Unlike many other special rooms, barracks often contain a vast assortment of military gear scattered on the floor, including swords, shields, polearms, and rations.
🏆 Strategy
- Combat: Soldiers are humanoid enemies that fight aggressively in packs. While individual soldiers might not be particularly strong, their numbers and decent equipment can make them a formidable threat. Area-of-effect spells or choke points are recommended.
- Loot: A barracks is an excellent place to find high-quality weapons and armor, especially if you are lacking in basic combat gear. You can often find K-rations and C-rations here as well.
- Mercenaries: If you have gold to spare, you can hire soldiers by throwing gold at them (if they are peaceful or if you can pacify them), turning them into loyal followers.
