π A Swamp is a damp special room characterized by multiple pools of water and amphibious monsters.
βΉοΈ Description
A Swamp is a hazardous room filled with pools of water, making navigation difficult and dangerous. It is populated by aquatic and amphibious monsters, such as snakes, crocodiles, giant eels, and various fungi.
πΊοΈ Generation
Swamps have a 1 in 6 chance of generating on eligible levels starting from dungeon level 16. The room's floor is heavily dotted with pools of water. Swamps may also randomly contain dragon fruits.
π Strategy
- Water Hazards: Walking into a pool of water will cause your inventory to get wet, potentially blanking scrolls, diluting potions, and rusting iron equipment. If you do not have water walking or levitation, navigate the room carefully or use cold spells to freeze the water into ice.
- Sea Monsters: Beware of giant eels and krakens that hide in the pools. They can grab you and drown you instantly if you are pulled into the water, ignoring your hit points entirely. Magical breathing protects against drowning.
- Loot: Swamps generally contain less treasure than other special rooms, but the presence of dragon fruits and the occasional hidden item can make them worth exploring if you can navigate the water safely.
